Bridges for cello

At the cello and at other stringed instruments the bridge is mostly made of maple wood. Mounted between the strings the instrument top, the bridge transmits the vibration of the cello strings,  which have been produced by the bow on the body of the cello. A mute can be placed on the bridge if a decrease of the string vibration and with it also of the sound intensity is desired.
