BUYING A VIOLIN FOR CHILDREN – WHICH VIOLIN SIZE IS RIGHT?
Violins are available in different sizes to accommodate the shorter arm length and smaller hand size of children in particular. The different sizes are indicated as fractions: the 4/4 violin—also called a “full-size violin”—is the largest. This is followed by 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and the smallest commonly used size, the 1/16 violin.
HOW DO I FIND A GOOD VIOLIN FOR A CHILD?
When a child begins learning a string instrument, the question quickly arises as to which violin to buy. For children’s violins, choosing a violin set has proven effective. This way, all necessary accessories—such as the violin case, bow, shoulder rest, and rosin—are already included. A nice beginner set with a good children’s violin is the PAGANINO Allegro Violin Set or the PACATO Classic Violin Set.
