BERDANI Violin – Linea Natura | Guarneri del Gesù Model
The Linea Natura combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative materials and a consistently sustainable design philosophy. It was created for musicians who demand the highest standards of tone, playability, and reliability.
This violin is handcrafted in the German BERDANI Master Workshop under the direction of master luthier Bernd Hiller. Carefully selected, naturally aged tonewoods from the Swiss Alps are used throughout its construction. Deeply flamed maple for the back, ribs, and neck is paired with a finely grained spruce top, creating the foundation for a rich, expressive, and highly resonant sound.
The instrument is based on the legendary Guarneri del Gesù model, renowned for its exceptional power and distinctive tonal character. Compared to traditional Stradivari models, the Guarneri design offers a stronger, darker, and more robust voice. The tone possesses remarkable depth, substance, and projection while maintaining flexibility and a wide range of tonal colors.
The violin responds immediately to the bow and develops impressive tonal richness even with minimal bow pressure. The middle and lower registers stand out with warmth, complexity, and carrying power, while the upper register remains open, clear, and brilliant. This versatility makes the instrument equally suitable for solo performance, chamber music, and orchestral playing.
Sustainable Dark Paper Fittings
A distinctive feature of the Linea Natura is its complete set of Dark Paper fittings. The fingerboard, pegs, tailpiece, nut, saddle, and endpin are all crafted from this advanced high-performance material.
Berdani's Dark Paper
Dark Paper is manufactured from compressed paper fibers and phenolic resin and is distinguished by its exceptional hardness and excellent acoustic properties. The material is denser and harder than ebony, highly resistant to climate changes, moisture, perspiration, and temperature fluctuations. Thanks to its outstanding wear resistance, the fingerboard retains its precision and dimensional stability for many years. At the same time, Dark Paper offers a modern and sustainable alternative to traditional tropical hardwoods. Since no protected wood species are used, no CITES documentation is required for international travel.
