The Taiwanese violinist David Lien began his career as a musician and studied first in Taiwan and later at the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Vienna.
His long search for the “perfect instrument” inspired him to learn the art of violin making himself. Under the guidance of Viennese luthiers, he deepened his knowledge of traditional craftsmanship and founded his own workshop in 1997 – now known as Lien Violins Instruments Ltd. in Taipei.

Today, David Lien crafts violins following the principles of the old Cremonese masters, which are highly appreciated worldwide at exhibitions such as Cremona Mondomusica, the Musikmesse Nuremberg, and Music China Shanghai.
