The most important cello accessories

Rosin
In the cello case or the cello bag there should always be some rosin. At careful selection the sound of the cello is refined by the rosin. It is not easy to say which rosin fits best to the bow and the strings because the ideas of sound are individually different. However, it should be ensured that the hardness of the instrument, the bow and the strings match. It is best to just try it out. Rosin should not be older than two years old, otherwise it starts to lubricate and glues the bow hair. Old Rosin should be removed from the bow hair using a special cleaner, which is of course available at Paganino. Before each play the cello bow is rubbed with rosin. Often used rosin is the Andrea Rosin, the Amato Gold rosin, Bernardel rosin or the Pirastro rosin that was designed each for specific strings.

Mutes
Also, the mute is, like the strings and rosin, a constant companion in the cello case or in the cello bag. Indispensable as it is, it still takes up little space. There are different materials and in different versions of mutes. The rubber dampers are mounted on the strings and then moved onto the bridge. A damper made of ebony is placed directly on the bridge.

Fine tuners
A fine tuner is used quickly and facilitates the tuning of the cello enormously. The string is streched between tailpiece and pegs. With the fine tuners tuning of the instrument is a child's play.

Tailpieces
For the sake of sound quality or the overall visual impression of the cello it may be necessary to install a new tailpiece. Tailpiece can be made of light metal or wood. Some tailpieces, such as the tailpiece Pusch, are supplied equally with four fine tuners.

Endpin
The endpin is, next to the rosin, certainly the most important accessory for cello. The floor protector endpin prevents the sting of the cello damaging the floor. There are many different floor protectors. The spike anchor and the Universal Cello board are attached to the chair leg. The other floor protectors are freely usable and adhere to the floor. The Pacato Cello Stickers even connect the endpin with the cello spike using a small magnet.

Bridge
Over time, the cello bridge may bend by the enormous pressure it has to endure through the streched strings. In this case, it must always be replaced, otherwise the instrument may be damaged. Paganino offers a Cello Bridge with a mobile basis.

Maintenance
The surface of bowed stringed instruments is exposed to many stresses and strains. The sensitive varnish of the cello can be strained by dust from rosin and moisture. A good cleaning and maintenance agent can remove the dust from rosin and at the same time easily compensate light damages on the paint. Thus, the paint will not only be cleaned, but also gets new brilliance. The cleaning and maintenance products Aureum can be highly recommended, as well as the care products by Pacato.

Humidifier
In the cold season the dry heated air causes the wood of the bowed stringed instrument to warp easily. A humidifier can prevent this. Thus, the wood of the cello slowly absorbs moisture and returns to its normal pressure.

Cello spike
The cello spike is the „supporting leg“ of the cello. At Paganino you can find a great selection of cello spikes. Cello spikes are available either with chromed metal parts or made of the high-tech material carbon.

Cello stool
The cello chair allows the cello player ideal sitting posture. In order to ensure this, the cello chair height is adjustable. So the cello can be played in a relaxed posture. At Paganino there are even special cello chairs for kids.
