The correct violin care

The violin is daily exposed to many influences, that make maintenance of the instrument necessary. Airborne dust settles on the sensitive paint. When practicing or during the concert sweat reaches the chinrest and the fingerboard. Even the dust of rosin is deposited on the finish of the violin and not only adheres to the hair of the bow but also the strings. If the dust of rosin stays there for a long time, it can damage the paint. A subsequent removal is no longer easily possible.

Dust and sweat:

After each practice or concert, the violin should be cleaned with a cloth. For this purpose, a micro fiber cloth or a cotton cloth is suitable. Thus, the dust can be carefully removed from the instrument. Also, the bow can be cleaned regularly with a cloth.  The wood of the bow is so constantly exposed to the rosin-dust. Then you can also maintain the paint of the violin with special cleaning and polishing agents. For this purpose, also special towels are offered. One the paint is cleaned and maintained, resulting cracks can be detected early. Through the care and polish the delicate wood and paint of the violin are protected from moisture, acids and abrasion.
