Bare gut string for bass viol (HV gut type)
The use of beef gut as an alternative to sheep gut dates back to the first half of the last century.
Beef gut enables a high level of standardization of the strings produced, which are only offered plain and lacquered.
This
type of material meets the needs of those who are looking for
reliability, safety, great durability, little change due to climatic
changes and tuning stability even in high humidity. On the other hand,
they are not recommended for those who mainly aim for the historicity
and quality of the sound.
Polished and varnished strings (type HV)The
AQUILA gut strings are largely similar to the historical hand-polished
strings in that they only have a fraction of the fibers ground through
compared to the grinding methods that are otherwise common today.

Due
to the special manufacturing method of polished strings, the diameters
represent average values (e.g. a string with a diameter of 66 can be
in a range of 65 - 67.
