One of the most famous violin strings of the 20th century was the
Tricolore brand. GAMUT MUSIC is now bringing these strings back onto the
market after many years of unavailability. The takeover of the original
manufacturing machines and recipes from the original producer should
help to ensure that an exact copy of this historical string brand can be
offered. The only addition to the original string design is the
addition of a leather washer at the knot of each string. Modern
tailpieces have wider string slots than those of the early 20th century
and the intestinal knot is no longer large enough to hold the string in
place. The leather prevents the string from being pulled through the
tailpiece.
