Enrique Granados, 1867 in Lérida geboren, studierte Klavier und Komposition in Barcelona und anschließend in Paris und kehrte 1889 nach Barcelona zurück. Mit seinen Beiträgen zur Form der Zarzuela wurde er ein bedeutender und bekannter Pianist in Spanien. Er ertrank bei einem vergeblichen Rettungsversuch seiner Frau 1916 im Ärmelkanal, nachdem ihr Schiff von einem deutschen U-Boot torpediert wurde.

Born in Lérida in 1867, Enrique Granados studied the piano and composition in Barcelona and then in Paris, returning to Barcelona in 1889. He won distinction as a pianist and popularity in Spain with his contributions to the form of zarzuela. He was drowned in the English Channel when the boat on which he was returning home from an American tour by way of Liverpool was torpedoed.
