The Jebony mute is made of oiled, finely cut ebony “Made in Germany”. It is placed on the bridge and dampens the transmission of vibrations from the strings to the resonance body. The sound becomes somewhat quieter, softer and more “nasal”.

The Jebony mute can remain permanently on the strings and can be quickly moved from its resting position on the tailpiece to the bridge if necessary. A good fit of the mute on the bridge and direct contact with the ebony is important.

Use/Scope of delivery:
The bag supplied contains the mute, a clamping viole for attachment to the tailpiece and an Allen key for adjustment to the bridge. The width and angle can be individually adjusted using the two screws.

Notes:
Ebony is a natural product, therefore brown/light-coloured wood inclusions are normal.
Please adjust carefully. If you are unsure, consult a luthier.
Do not unscrew the screws too far. The mute must ‘clamp’ on the bridge to prevent it from falling off when playing.
